About the role

The Peer Tree Team Lead will facilitate, coordinate, and conduct outreach for social groups within the Peer Tree Service (located in Wellington). This service supports young adults aged 18-30 in their mental wellbeing through group facilitated peer support.

The Peer Tree is a community initiative by Kites Trust designed to support young adults experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges. The service aims to create a safe and inclusive environment where individuals aged 18-30-years-old can share their experiences, offer mutual support, and foster a sense of belonging. By leveraging the power of peer support, the service helps participants build resilience, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall mental wellbeing.

  • Empowerment: Providing tools and support for effective mental health management
  • Connection: Fostering peer connections to reduce isolation and loneliness
  • Recovery: Sharing journeys and supporting one another to find hope and motivation
  • Community Engagement: Promoting awareness and understanding of mental health issues

The Peer Tree Team Lead provides leadership within a team of three Peer Support Group Facilitators but does not have formal people management responsibilities.

This is a part-time role of 15 hours per week. The Peer Tree facilitated community groups are currently running late afternoon on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
