What is a Community of Practice?

Peer Support Workers Network – Te Whanganui-a-Tara

This is a space created by our Community of Practice Lead, for peer support workers in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. It’s all about staying connected, sharing experiences, and supporting each other in the mahi we do.

We’re here to:

  • Keep each other in the loop with what’s happening locally
  • Share stories, challenges, and wins
  • Build strong connections across the community
  • Celebrate the value of peer support

Whether you’re new to the role or have years of experience, this network is a place to be seen, heard, and supported.

Meet our Community of Practice Lead, Char!

Char is a 1.5 generation Chinese kiwi with a passion in community psychology. With a background in Psychology and Creative Arts Therapy, Char is eager to bring the peer support community together!

As the Community of Practice Lead, Char acts as a:

  • Connector
  • Guide
  • Community builder for Peer Support Workers in Pōneke.

She focuses on creating a strong, supportive network where Peer Support workers feel informed, connected, and empowered. By coordinating relationships between people and organisations, Char helps ensure that peer support workers can continue to deliver meaningful, healing outcomes—both individually and across the wider community and systems they’re part of.
