Celebrating Connection and Insight: Our Journey with Whitireia’s Peer Support Research Project

Last year, we had the incredible opportunity to be part of a meaningful peer support research initiative led by Whitireia. This project explored the power of peer support in our communities, and we were honoured to contribute our voices and experiences to such an important kaupapa.

Importantly, the research was grounded in recommendations from both the peer support and healthcare workforce, ensuring that the findings and outcomes reflected the real needs and aspirations of those working on the front lines of mental health and wellbeing.

As part of the final phase of the project, some of our Kites team members were invited to a shared morning tea to reflect on the journey and discuss the results. The gathering was more than just a celebration—it was a space for deep and insightful kōrero. We shared stories, learned from each other, and felt the strength of collective wisdom.

A thank you to Whitireia for their tireless mahi in nurturing and uplifting the peer support community. May this kaupapa continue to flourish, bringing strength, connection, and hope to all involved.
